Remind yourself on a regular basis to take a conscious breath and after a very short time, your body will begin to adapt to a new way of being in the world, one where you actually think about taking in the essence that feeds you, and makes everything work well in your body.

It is not uncommon for us to literally hold our breaths, especially when we are focused or stressed in any way. This increases the stress you feel and exacerbates the effect on your body. Breathing consciously is a habit that has proven to be elusive unless we take time to focus on changing the default habits we have become accustomed to in this age of fast-moving, multi-tasking, hard-driving, achievement-oriented living.

When told to take a deep breath, many people complain that they just don’t remember to breathe consciously. At the end of the day, you might slap your forehead and say, “Sheesh, I forgot to increase my deep breathing today!” That’s where “BREATHE YOUR LIFE” comes in.

It only takes a few weeks of practicing a behavior before it begins to show up as a result. The amazing thing is that an increase in conscious breathing will increase your oxygenation which will energize you, increase the strength of your muscles, and generally increase your sense of well-being. You can set the reminder to play for any length of time at intervals of your choosing, and with the background of a harp or a guitar. You can repeat it as often as you desire – the more you use it, the faster deep breathing becomes a natural habit for you.

As a bodywork practitioner, I have seen the positive effect of clients becoming more conscious in their breathing and wanted to encourage this practice to people all over. Perfect your own oxygen engine and encourage everyone you know to do the same. When we open up our breathing, we are preparing ourselves to receive all the “inspiration” we can now handle.
